Vision, Mission, and Goals

Vision

The vision of the Brazelton Touchpoints Center® is to ensure that all children grow up to become adults who can cope with adversity, strengthen their communities, engage as active participants in civic life, steward our fragile planet’s limited resources, and nurture the next generation to be prepared to do the same.

Mission

The Brazelton Touchpoints Center is dedicated to strengthening the families of young children and the systems of care that surround them so that all children – regardless of their cultural, socioeconomic, physical, psychological, emotional health, or environmental challenges – will be successful early learners and have the opportunity to thrive.

Goals

Brazelton Touchpoints Center is dedicated to the following goals:

For children: Brazelton Touchpoints principles and strategies provide a powerful opportunity to support children to become successful early learners, nurtured within strong relationships with their caregivers, by integrating into practice what science tells us about the importance of nurturing relationships to children’s healthy social, emotional and intellectual development.

For families: Brazelton Touchpoints principles and strategies support parents to become competent and confident caregivers empowered to act on their innate wisdom and desire to do what’s best for their child, by ensuring that families are knowledgeable and have the tools to be effective caregivers, meeting the health, emotional and learning needs of their children.

For providers: Brazelton Touchpoints provide a practical approach for competent, caring professionals who respect families as equal partners in shared, care giving relationships. By joining parents in this way, providers experience stronger relationships with children and families and a deepened sense of professional satisfaction. Touchpoints offer opportunities for providers to “touch” into the family system, helping parents understand their child’s behavior and strengths and experience stronger emotional attachment, which is critical to child development.

For communities/systems of care: Brazelton Touchpoints brings providers and communities together to support children and families by reorganizing service delivery around family needs and strengths, by promoting continuity of care in the face of systems and funding streams that too often result in discontinuity of care.
