Touchpoints in Libraries

Touchpoints in Libraries is designed for all professionals working in any library setting who want to deepen their engagement with families. This virtual training builds an understanding of a child’s developmental process from birth to 6 years and develops skills for connecting with families through culturally-responsive, strengths-based interactions.
In this training, you will learn how to:
  • View children’s development as a non-linear process characterized by periods of change that affect the family system
  • Identify opportunities to support families in daily library interactions, including moments that feel challenging for them and for you
  • Use strengths-based and culturally-responsive strategies to connect with families and co-workers
  • Create a shared language among staff about engaging families and caregivers
This 24-hour online course consists of eight, 3-hour modules where you’ll learn through live synchronous webinars, online group discussions, and individual activities. Following course completion, you will participate in six 1-hour virtual reflective practice sessions delivered monthly. A small class size of 18 enhances the learning environment.
